Review: 9 Years to Neptune “The Countdown”

Overview

Our Take

Commemorating the 1 year anniversary of their space trip with 8 years to go, Just when you think it’s a time of celebration turns out to be a series of major important changes both within the ship and on Earth as Natalie is offered a job with NASA of all people which you’d think her grotesque silhouette of a boss who funded the space mission Mr. Bezusk would feel bad but is kinda indifferent as he has multiple contingency plans in place for his strange obsession with wanting to get his hands on Neptune Dust.

At the same time this is going on, Sascha falls victim to a mishap involving the experimentation of a mind-control chemical she was working on, and consequently, needs medical attention that Dale is unable to do leading RJ to get creative in speeding up the escape pod so she can go to Earth for the proper care she needs. And in a later subplot, the whole crew despite Sascha’s past actions all give their respectable farewells intercut with Suzy singing which was easily one of the best highlights. Stuart is also apprehensive to tell Natalie how she feels, but Sascha’s words of wisdom to Stuart play with expectations in the worst ways imaginable…

Overall, this episode feels like one hell of a cliffhanger. While it’s not specified what direction it’ll take after that twist ending, It remains to be seen if Season 2 actually becomes a thing. Also, I really hate it when most stories take this particular route
