English Dub Review: Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon “Wielding the Tenseiga”
Overview:
Sesshomaru hands the broken Tenseiga to a grieving Towa, leaving Setsuna’s fate in her hands. Will Towa be able to bring Setsuna back to life?
Our Take(Possible Spoilers):
What a cliffhanger to end a season on! Luckily, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is back for its second season so the wait is over. Setsuna has died but there might be a way to bring her back. Sesshomaru gives her the Tenseiga which has the ability to bring back the dead but only once. It’s all up to whether Towa can wield the power or not, so no pressure!
Coming from someone who has still yet to see Inuyasha, I can say that you can still watch Yashahime without having seen it. There is definitely some confusion and you might feel like you’re missing out on some things but I still enjoyed it even without seeing the previous series.
Sunrise does a great job with the animation here. It’s only the first episode but I was really impressed with Moroha’s fight scene. Moroha is my favorite character so I really like to see her in action and Sunrise didn’t disappoint me. The voice cast they chose is amazing as well. I am a huge fan of Erica Mendez ever since I heard her as Raphtalia in The Rising of the Shield Hero so I am always on board for more roles with her.
They also got Kira Buckland and Morgan Berry to round out the trio. Kira has risen in my ranks in recent months because of her performance as Ameri in Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-Kun. Morgan Berry is very underrated to me, she does a lot of supporting roles but here she gets a lot more time to shine and it definitely doesn’t hurt that she voices my favorite, Moroha.
If you watched the first season of Yashahime you are probably watching this one. If you aren’t… why not?! It’s a fun adventure show that focuses on familial and friendship bonds. Plus there’s a lot of well-animated action, the first season was great so I have high hopes for this one as well. Though if you haven’t seen the first season I wouldn’t really recommend starting here. Though to be fair there is a fairly decent recap at the beginning of this episode, it at least refreshed things for me. If you’re a fan of stories that span generations like me then you are definitely in for a treat.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
