English Dub Review: Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside: “The Rampage Begins”

Overview: Red (Aaron Campbell) and Rit (Dani Chambers) look into the drug problem plaguing their village and neighboring areas while also confessing some feelings as well.

Our Take: The simple life for Rit and Red was never going to be that easy. Ever since one of Red’s former teammates, Denan, began his search to bring him back into the fold, there was always that looming feeling that the coziness the two had become accustomed was only temporary. Especially with how both Red and Rit reiterate their commitment to their newfound lifestyle, when bigger problems arise. The series’ recent widespread drug epidemic is a perfect example in showing

little they can fend off their basic instincts to be heroes, but most importantly just of being natured people and lending a helping hand. But that doesn’t mean that it’s all valor and heroism, with Red and Rit finally taking the next step and officially dating! Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait 8-9 arcs for this to happen, with various series such as these tending to tediously drawing out romantic relationships. Red and Rit are treated like actual people with how they come to terms with their feelings in a playful and lighthearted manner, without any of the melodrama that can come out of these confessions.

There are also plenty of other threads that finally unravel like when Rit gets so aggressive at times is due in part to her blessing that promotes such thoughts and emotions. But her blessing is just part of the equation, it goes to show that Rit fights just as hard as she loves, especially in Red’s case if the interaction with Albert in the shop was any indication, but also her anger management when around him during her investigation of the drug’s effects. Not leaving Ruti out to dry, there are more flashback scenes that show just why she cares for Red as much as she does. It’s subtly and brilliantly communicated in Red extending a loving hand and wanting to make sure his feelings were made known to her, bringing out her feelings he knows she has and enjoys, just as she does for him. With present day Ruti suffering without Red by her side and if her initial reaction to Ares’ news of it is any indication, the effects that his departure could have on her in the long run could lay the groundwork for an erratically twisted antagonist that is made even more thrilling with how much of ticking time bomb she could be.
