English Dub Review: The Detective is Already Dead “I Still Remember, After all this Time”
Overview(Possible Spoilers):
A flashback of Kimizuka and Siesta where she offers to delete his search history if he dies, that’s a true friend. Kimi is stopped at school by Nagisa Natsunagi, she thinks he’s the ace detective. In actuality, he just uses the fact that he ends up in troubled scenarios to his advantage. Ever since she got a heart transplant she has had a longing to see someone but she doesn’t know who. She asks for Kimi’s help to find them. The person she was looking for might be closer than she first thought though.
Our Take:
We get to meet the girl that was only teased at the end of the last episode. Her name is Nagisa Natsunagi and she needs Kimi’s help to find someone. The issue is she doesn’t know who, she has just had a yearning ever since she got a heart transplant. Kimi suspects that it’s a case of memory transference where she is feeling what the donor wants. It was an interesting idea but leads to something that you might guess halfway through the episode.
It’s by no means a bad development and could lead to some interesting ideas but it will need to be executed properly. I also really like the chemistry between Kimi and Nagisa. Their banter was pretty funny at times though got a bit on the fanservice-y side. It really is good though and was almost as good as the chemistry with Siesta which is saying something. Siesta is too important a character to just be done with so if the beginning of this episode is anything to go by I think we will see her more in flashbacks.
Nagisa is voiced by Arryn Zech and she is definitely bigger in the Rooster Teeth family than anime. She does voices in RWBY and Red vs Blue. This seems to be her first big anime role and while there were some not-so-great parts I really liked her. Her back and forth’s with Austin Tindle were really awesome and if Siesta is in this show a little less I am confident that Arryn can carry it.
This was a really solid second episode from an intriguing series. When one of your main characters is already dead after the first episode it’s hard to imagine where it will go. While easy to predict the reveal in this episode sets up some interesting possibilities for the future. I would say to stay tuned to this one, so far at least.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
