Review: Middlemost Post “My Buddy, Buddy/Love Letters”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Parker’s new friend turns out to be a leprechaun who is looking for gold. Parker goes all over town to find whom Angus’s love letters are meant for.
Our Take:
Today doesn’t turn out to be so lucky for Parker and his Middlemost Post gang. But it is a lucky day for us to experience another round of Nickelodeon’s latest original series. This final set of episodes before the show’s hiatus has leprechauns, rainbow chunks, and even love. But are they enough to conclude its short first season?
Its first episode, “My Buddy, Buddy”, centers on Parker hanging out with his new friend, Buddy. It later turns out that Buddy isn’t so friendly as Parker’s new buddy is actually two leprechauns in disguise. They’re plotting to make Parker spew out a rainbow so they can steal his pot of gold. It’s up to Angus, Russell, and Lily to foil the tricksters’ scheme and save Parker. This episode is nothing too special regarding its scenario. However, it had enough moments in its humor to provide some enjoyment, such as Parker shocking “Buddy” while riding the roller coaster numerous times and Angus’s soufflé. Who knew that little cloud has a pot of gold of his own?
The second episode, “Love Letters”, showed that love is in the air at Mount Middlemost. While Angus is worrying about his weird beard, Parker discovers a top-secret box filled with love letters written by Angus. Wondering who Angus’s secret love is, the gullible Parker travels all over Mount Middlemost and reads the letters to everyone in town to find her, and I do mean everyone. This resulted in the people becoming lovestruck and attempting to confess their love to him. Angus then reveals that his true love is the ocean, which unsurprisingly upsets the Middlemost people.
The “Love Letters” episode happens to be a bit better than the previous one due to its message and comedy. When Parker finds Angus’s letters and reads them to everyone, it counts as an invasion of one’s privacy, and it can embarrass that person for who knows how long. The moral of this story is that you should never mess with someone’s personal stuff and their love affair. The episode also offered some decent humor, with the best part being Russell’s Bad Beard Balm removing Angus’s beard at the end. That ending alone was completely unexpected, but it was also hilarious. Thankfully, Beardless Angus wasn’t as frightening as Skeleton Angus from “How Angus Got His Groove Back”. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Beardless Angus winds up becoming a meme in the future.
Overall, the episodes were lucky enough to deliver some charm and enjoyment in their scenarios. While the “Buddy” episode isn’t without its humorous moments, I would have to choose the “Love Letters” one as the best of the bunch. The gags in the latter were pretty funny, especially Beardless Angus, and its message was executed reasonably well. Unlike The Patrick Star Show’s finale, Middlemost Post has a tolerable way of starting its hiatus with a boom instead of a stinky toot.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
