Hulu Is “Standing By” A New Animated Comedy From “Schitt’s Creek” Duo

Hulu has ordered a pilot presentation from Schitt’s Creek duo Ally Pankiw and Dan Levy (co-writing and executive producing) for an adult animated comedy called Standing By being produced by 20th Television animation.

According to Deadline who first reported the news, Standing By will feature Levy in one of the starring roles of the series that is a satirical look into the lives of a group of eternally bound, disgruntled guardian angels and the lessons they’ll eventually learn from not only the dysfunctional humans they’re in charge of protecting, but also each other. Levy will voice Carey, the newly deceased, cynical spotter to the group who had a lonely, isolated life in New York City.

Hulu has more or less batted .1000 in producing original adult animated comedies. The likes of Solar Opposites, Crossing Swords, and M.O.D.O.K. are already hits, and the streamer has already ordered a new original series with Koala Man. Hulu is also largely responsible for renewing a bunch of the Animation Domination lineup including Duncanville, The Great North, and others which have also done well with the next-day after broadcast streaming strategy via FOX.
