English Dub Review: Pretty Boy Detective Club “The Pretty Boy on D. Hill (Part 2)”

Overview:

Mayumi believes that the hit and run could have been faked. Does that mean that Naganawa is a traitor? Mayumi and Michiru decide to meet with her to find out. On the way back Mayumi is almost ran over herself.

Our Take:

Pretty Boy Detective Club is a beautiful show. No matter what you think about anything else, that is an undeniable fact. Studio Shaft really outdid themselves with this one. All the colors, movement, and backgrounds flow together beautifully. Couple that with the writing of Nisio Isin and you got quite the combo.

The investigation of the hit and run continues! Mayumi and Michiru think the accident might have been faked. Which means that Naganawa could be a traitor. Why would she fake everything though? They decide to visit her to find out. During the visit, they realize that she couldn’t be a traitor. In light of this Michiru decides to relay everything to Manabu. Before they can get back to the club though Mayumi is almost ran over by a car herself! Luckily Michiru pushed her out of the way in time.

I noticed two of my favorite voice actors in this episode. Billy Kametz makes an appearance as Manabu’s older brother, Odoru. And Brianna Knickerbocker plays the hit and run victim Naganawa. Both were instantly recognizable and they did really well. They had super short screen time but it was enjoyable to hear their voices!

That mostly sums up this episode but we got a double dose this week! So without further ado, I will get started on the finale of Pretty Boy Detective Club. Will everything be wrapped up nicely with this case? I can’t wait to find out! More importantly, will Mayumi be okay? She just barely avoided getting hit by a car after all.
