English Dub Review: Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! “Enlistment and Baptism”

Overview:

Hiro continues to watch the walkthrough from Kamui. He finds out that by being the “Best Friend Killer” he now has a 0.5% chance of survival. Hiro decides to stop running away and tackle the game in full force. Training is harder than anticipated, however. There are two newbies that join at the same time and they are leagues better than Hiro. Once again things aren’t going our hero’s way.

Our Take:

Once again Hiro is being shit on, in fact, shit seems to be a recurring theme in this show. I know it’s in the title but that doesn’t mean you have to rub it in. I am guessing if Hiro has any good moments they are going to be saved for like the last two episodes. That is really annoying, I haven’t seen a protagonist get shit on this much in a long time. If I was him I would probably want to quit everything too. Sure he makes some bad choices but still, no one deserves all this. Even the one person who should be in his corner (Reona) isn’t. I mean she is but she just laughs when bad things happen.

One nice thing about this episode is we got some characters which mean new voice actors. Robert McCollum voices Granada, Aaron Dismuke voices Palu, Josh Grelle voices Bob, and Dani Chambers voices Cathy. I think their characters will be significant over the next few episodes at least. So far I really like the choice and have been hearing a lot of Dani Chambers lately. This is a good role for her. Hopefully, these characters make an impact.

Cathy wants to help Hiro but I fear she will give him a cold shoulder once the bullying comes her way too. That’s right Hiro gets bullied in a video game too. This game is essentially his life but he paid to do it so I think that makes it worse, and his console might explode. I mean the guy who sent him to get tortured is in charge of his training too, and the two new people are great (or at least one of them is) and get all the attention.

I feel like a broken record at this point. But MAYBE just MAYBE Hiro will get something to go his way. I hope he finds a way to stick it to the bullies or maybe they join him? I know that’s cliche but I am up for some cliches at this point. My boy needs a W and it seems like he’ll never get one.
