English Dub Review: Combatants Will Be Dispatched! “Carnivorous Female Chimera!”

Overview:

While getting the water nuts, Six and his team are attacked by the Sand King. Turns out the Sand King is a giant mole and probably needs those water nuts. They have to abandon their vehicle and the nuts to survive. Suffering from heat and starvation and… other things, can they survive?

Our Take:

The best way to sum up this episode is funny but uncomfortable. I completely get fanservice and the jokes associated with it but some of them started to drift into some yikes territory for me. I also get that they need to do evil things to get evil points and in this episode, the situation was definitely dire but still. I’ll put it this way, some of the insinuations this episode got a little rapey. They didn’t cross that line but it was close so I just want to put that out there.

The parts where he does get permission are hilarious though. Also, doesn’t net any hero points but that makes it even funnier. Snow basically tells him it’s okay to lift her skirt but he doesn’t get any evil points. Six then asks “Snow… are you into this?” she then proceeds to beat him up. The most interesting part of this episode was Rose got the spotlight for once.

By spotlight, I mean a huge hilarious misunderstanding. You see Six thinks that Rose wants to sleep with him but that is not the case. She actually wants to eat him, and not in a sexy way but in a carnivorous female chimera way (see what they did there?). He does manage to get enough evil points by fighting her off.

This was probably the worst episode of the series. The show relies on its comedy so if you make the comedy uncomfortable it doesn’t have any other legs to stand on. It was still funny but I hope with two episodes left they rebound. I hope we get it next week so I can get this bad taste out of my mouth. And I’m not talking about Six either…
