Comic Review: RWBY/Justice League #14

Overview

With the battle behind them, Team RWBY picks up the pieces of their lives, but what does this mean for their new friends?

Our Take

With writer Marguerite Bennette and Penciled once again by Meghan Hetrick. We conclude the battle of Team RWBY and Justice League’s team-up against the Starro. Much of this specific issue is a farewell between the newly formed Justice League and Team RWBY & JNPR’s teams, even if the ending leaves things on a positive yet vague note.

Long before Warner Bros. took over Rooster Teeth, I’m pretty sure Monty’s Oum’s vision for RWBY didn’t involve a DC Crossover at all since this plot is supposed to take place before the events of the infamous “Volume 3” storyline. But It would’ve been interesting to see the League’s reactions or response to the gruesome aftermath during the fall of beacon and how they could’ve helped anyone at all, or see them go up against Salem’s forces in later Volumes.

While this series was flawed in terms of plot holes and character consistency, it was still entertaining for what it accomplished. It showed how the Iconic Justice League would’ve looked and functioned in the world of RWBY’s Remnant while giving each league member a unique spin of how each of their powers and personalities would plausibly work within the show’s particular universe.

Since DC has a tendency of writing & publishing comics of properties they own like they did with a short-lived Mortal Kombat series tied with MKX, I doubt this will get any sort of animated adaptation like their upcoming “Injustice” videogame property is soon to have. But I’ll be shocked if Rooster Teeth or WB even considers it…
