English Dub Review: Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! “Adult Event Time”

Overview:

Hiro gets arrested after Ginji rats him out. While in prison an interrogator by the name of Mizarisa takes him to a special room. Hiro gets a notification about “advanced” stimulation and thinks an adult event is happening. It is an adult event just not the type he thought it was…

Our Take:

Things just keep getting worse for Hiro. I get playing up the misery of a character for laughs but this is almost too much. Like I feel bad for the guy. I think we need some positive things to happen for him soon or it will be on the unbearable side for me. There should be other ways for the show to be funny without making Hiro the butt of ALL the jokes. The guy even peed himself this week I mean c’mon. I know I mentioned it last week and I hate to beat a dead horse but as long as it’s an issue I have to bring attention to it.

One thing that was funny that didn’t use Hiro as the main part of the joke was something Reona said. She was late logging into the game because Studio Ghibli’s Castle in the Sky was on. I thought that was a pretty good reason since that movie is fantastic and her rebuttal about multiple viewings leading to new discoveries is a mindset I absolutely subscribe to. Plus you can never go wrong with any Ghibli film.

We got a new character this week and because of her presence in both the opening and endings, I imagine she will have a large presence. That is Mizarisa the interrogator with Sarah Williams doing the voice. I like the mix of established and newer voice talent in this show. You got essentially a rock star of the industry in Johnny Yong Bosch as he solidifies the lead role. Opposite him is the relative newcomer Natalie Van Sistine and she has really impressed me. One thing I am noticing in the last year or two is the anime industry is introducing more and more newcomers. Most of them have been amazing as well. Sarah Williams is no newcomer and her portrayal of the sadistic Mizarisa was on point to what I expected of her.

Speaking of the ending song, that is one of the catchiest songs I have heard in a while. It’s called “Kisuida” and it’s sang by the Japanese voice actresses of the show. It’s really fun and if you watch the ending as well it’s accompanied by the girls shaking their butts at times. I found it more funny than sexualizing but taken that for what you will. It’s been an okay show so far, but nothing to write home about. Hopefully it gets better in the coming episodes.
