English Dub Review: BACK ARROW “Is the Wall Really That Solid?”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Back Arrow and the villagers make it to a neutral area in between Lutoh and Rekka. They attempt to break the wall only to find out that it’s manmade with defenses. Meanwhile, Lutoh’s princess disapproves of Lord Walston’s actions and he leaves disgruntled. Her commander Prax Conrad confronts him and cuts off his arm for his attitude. Commander Prax later offers to take on the Back Arrow issue. On the other hand, Ren Sin finds Shu Bi’s bomb and gets a position under General Kai for her efforts. Rekka prepares themselves at the border with Lutoh and the neutral zone to attack Back Arrow and the others. However, the treaty between Lutoh and Rekka stops them from attacking them.
Granedger gets pushed back from the wall by its defensive mechanism. Rekka attacks them near the neutral territory, but Commander Prax Conrad arrives with her troops. She requests that they meet with Lutoh’s princess, especially Back Arrow. However, he refuses and stays for another try at breaking down the wall. Commander Prax Conrad, unperturbed by his response and determined to convince him. The others agree to go to Lutoh to try and find more information to break the wall.
Our Take:
After six episodes, Back Arrow and the gang finally get to the Wall, and we get to see its influence on the people of Lingalind especially with the adults of the village. BACK ARROW is definitely a slow series with taking its time to develop the anime’s exposition and adding the occasional conflict with Back Arrow’s group against the two nations.
For starters, there’s the inner conflict within the group with the adults backing out of destroying the wall. On the other hand, the kids decide to stay with the trio, but as Elsha’s grandpa points out their young lives are on the line with whatever decision they make. The show does show how the people pray to the Wall and what the Wall looks like. Admittedly for it to have defenses like a machine is not what I expected and it is suspicious, to say the least. Perhaps there’s information on the Wall’s origins? The mystery of the Wall is intriguing to keep on watching.
Surprisingly, Lutoh’s commander Prax Conrad is fine with them taking shots against the Wall In comparison to other adults of the village and Rekka’s general, Bai Toatsu, she is more concerned about her princess than the Wall. There’s definitely a backstory there on her loyalty to the princess when her title is “Prax the Blood Stained.”
Then there’s the politics with Lutoh and Rekka and their treaty with the neutral territory. Furthermore, it appears that small details like the Prime Minister’s wealth are something to look out for. In Lutoh there are people like Lord Walston against the princess’s goodwill and shows the similarities and differences between the two nations on a human level.
Overall it’s a good episode to show the Wall and how difficult it is going to be in breaking it. Hopefully, their trip to Lutoh will give some clues to the mystery of the Wall while Back Arrow attempts to break the Wall again.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
