English Dub Review: So I’m a Spider, So What? “You’re Rebelling? I’m, Self-Deprecating”

Overview

Continuing her journey in the vast wilderness. And for the first time, Spider-Lady’s next encounter with humans ends in an unusual way…

Our Take

Not much with Spider-Lady this episode, instead it’s opting to focus heavily on the human character’s timeline. The small scene we got with Spider-Lady did connect heavily to the majority of this episode. Spider-Lady saving that little vampire baby whom after seeing her name we know was Sophia. Someone that in the human side of the storylines is a major problem for Oka and Shun. Our heroes are on the run now with some dangerous enemies right on their trail. All these reincarnations running into each other can’t be a sheer coincidence. Many having connections with the later timeline demon Lord to some capacity.

The animation went straight downhill this episode. Way too many badly animated fighting scenes, as it seems… that’s sad, because the story is picking up the pace right now, and with some better animation, that could’ve been decent. For example, You don’t even see certain characters get stabbed or any of the swords connect or get cut. It just seemed poorly done.

Overall, while the animation left more to be desired, this episode raises more questions than answers. I do have to wonder who exactly are the bad guys? Are we going to have another story where the Kingdom was actually evil and corrupt this entire time? I mean Hugo out for revenge doesn’t help this Theory but I still would like to know the main goal of this series or what it’s trying to accomplish.
