Our Take
Damn, I forgot they had this Hogwarts-style points/ranking system, though I still don’t understand or remember how it even works. This might feel like filler, but it’s pretty logical enough for this to be canon, after all, what kind of organization holds an award ceremony for their members who have achieved some great feats? Speaking of feats, Asta would definitely be up there along with Yuno in terms of how much he has contributed to the previous storylines against the Elves and the Devil Bringer cult. If only the parliament wasn’t holding him back down. He is owed at least that much. Everyone in that room except the King knows that he deserves it…
No surprise for Yuno being one level under Captain. But for the atrocious King, his one and the only spot is for Sekke, and to level together with Yuno to secure his “nobles before peasant” thinking, he has a lot to live under as the useless right-hand man of everyone’s disapproval. But at the very least, I really appreciate the fact that Yami gets to be awarded because out of all the squads, it’s no mistake that the Black Bulls is the one driving force that managed to dispatch many of the Elves. Yet again, a shame that their accomplishments are overshadowed by Golden Dawn and Asta’s parliament trial Bullshit…
This episode was fine with the bits of witty humor in places even though I can’t stand that King who’s entitled ass is a reminder of the broken and corrupt classism that continues to exist in this show’s universe when it isn’t trying to be “Magical Naturo” as some haters would mockingly call it. While part of me would’ve liked the Black Bulls to receive the positive recognition altogether, Captain Yami being the sole representative is good enough for me. Let’s just hope they actually cut the bullshit and get to the Heart & Spade Kingdom storylines already!
