News For “The Simpsons”: Morrissey Reacts To Parody ; Special Marathon Announced
Instead of The Simpsons this Sunday, we have to put up with the Academy Awards that I have no intention of watching. As a result, new episodes of the longest-running animated series in primetime won’t return until May 9th. To help celebrate the Academy Awards, FXX is doing all sorts of marathons of The Simpsons starting April 24th featuring the likes of Oscar-nominated actors, parodies of Oscar-winning films, and red carpet send-ups. The multiple-night event will conclude with the Oscar-nominated The Longest Day Care, so, check your local listings to get an inside scoop of what’s going down.
Speaking of Oscar-nominated actors, Benedict Cumberbatch’s take as “Quilloughby” isn’t going over well with Morrissey’s manager Peter Katsis who claims that the clear parody of The Smith’s singer that was exhibited on last night’s episode wasn’t anywhere close. After drudging up a litany of reasons why The Simpsons suck, Peter attempts to clear up all of the misconceptions that The Simpsons focused on as it pertains to the legendary singer, and then ends his post with a few more shots before signing off. I think the best part about his rant is about the ratings for The Simpsons declining, and yet, Peter was clearly watching as the Facebook post went up the day the episode premiered. We had a whole bunch of other issues with the episode that you can read more about here.
If it makes Peter happy, note that The Simpsons don’t return until May. In the meantime, cheerio darling.
