Comic Review: RWBY/Justice League #5

Overview

Picking up from the last four issues, Team RWBY and the RWBY Versions of DC’s Trinity split up to investigate the missing Jr. Huntsmen & Huntresses which leads one-half of the team meeting two Speedsters with Semblance powers and revelations on what they’re up against…

Our Take

I’m not really shocked at the reveal since much of it wasn’t very subtle at Issue#4’s ending, but I was more shocked they’d introduce another supporting character from “The Flash” comics by the name of “Jesse Quick” who in the RWBY Universe is a Squirrel Faunus. I also found it hilariously out of left field that Bruce sort of Dons his Batman outfit though it’s commented that he’s apprehensive to wear a mask to completely cover his face.

What I do find odd is that the artist has changed in this issue. While the writing remains the same with Marguerite Bennett. The artist this time is Emanuela Lupacchino yet the art style thankfully has a consistent feel to not throw people off, and design-wise the RWBY versions of Flash and Jesse Quick are passable.

Overall this was a decent follow-up that adds more suspense to the proceedings and two more Justice League members. And it remains to be seen what we can expect from Issue #6.
