Review: The Movie Show Does Assassins

Overview 

After some quick news about John Wick and Disney Pixar’s Soul which premieres next week for Disney+, Gary hires an assassin to take out a local jazz outfit who may or may not be sleeping with his wife. Wade invites the would-be assassin on the show for an interview and then we check-in with the The Movie Show Twitter-verse and Splinter from TMNT. Unfortunately, Splinter doesn’t seem to be doing well.

Our Take

Increasingly, the jokes from this series are starting to become derivative of gags that other series have done. The assassin bit was done for a number of seasons by Jon Glaser’s Delocated on Adult Swim, and I’m pretty sure I heard a line or two that was clearly derived from The Office during the course of the episode. Furthermore, as a die-hard TMNT fan, the Splinter bit was a poorly conceived bit that hearkens back to the previous bits this show has done that were almost exactly the same thing. It’s disappointing, really. The franchise misses Rory Scovel.
