English Dub Review: Noblesse “The Girl I’m Into Is a Noble / Unforgettable”

Overview

Tashiro finds himself has increasingly expressed attraction towards Seira, so he asks the other guys for advice. Unfortunately for him, the likes of M-21, Tao, and Takio are already a hit with the ladies, so their advice isn’t very helpful, and Frankenstein only gives him boastful stories from his own history. Will Tashiro’s plan to get his feelings across to Seira be successful?..

Our Take

For the last English dubbed episode of 2020, this was quite interesting. I didn’t know what to expect after their recent and possibly final fight against the Union members but damn this was funny. The whole boy squad trying to help Yuusuke to get the hook-up with Seira. Especially the basketball match was comedy gold.

Although I wouldn’t mind just having more of these comedic episodes from time to time as long as they keep the quality of the jokes to something passable, the twist ending felt like an insult to the audience’s intelligence and keep this from getting a higher rating.

While this episode delivered in laughs, it also made me uncomfortable at times because I found the narrative level so low and the ending semi-tragic when you think about the disturbing implications regarding the twist. But I do hope that next week’s episode when 2021 begins, leads to a more compelling storyline.
