English Dub Review: Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! “I want to Hang Out in Tottori!”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Uzaki and Sakurai arrive at Tottori for a vacation, they are joined by Ami and Sakaki who are there to watch the show enfold between Uzaki and Sakurai. The squad goes to the sand dunes first where a tour guide discusses the tourist attraction. After visiting the various tourist attractions they reach a shrine where Sakurai and Uzaki get their fortunes and realize that Tottori is a couple’s vacation with the people around them unmistakably couples. Uzaki and Sakurai agree that the trip doesn’t need to have any romantic connotations between them as the group heads to local hot springs. After getting into an argument Uzaki and Sakurai try to have several competitions, but end up forgoing it altogether. The group later visits the yokai road and head off to the museum.
Our Take:
This episode was cringy in a good way with the romantic atmosphere that Tottori exuded with the other couples. Furthermore, it gives the audience a glimpse of what Tottori has to offer in terms of tourist attractions. From sandboarding on the sand dunes to fortunes at Hakuto Shrine this episode definitely gives the impression that one should visit when they have a chance. Personally I would love to check out the manga and figurine museum since it’s the birthplace of many manga artists. However. I expected this episode to be the aftermath of the fireworks festival so to jump right into Tottori was a bit of a whiplash. For what it’s worth, the episode does have some good reactions coming from Sakaki and Ami on the relationship between Sakurai and Uzaki.
Then there are the weekly adventures of Uzaki and Sakurai. Their bet on reaching the shore was amusing along with their realization that Tottori was a couple’s destination. The animations on the overflowing hearts of the other couples were good along with Sakaki and Ami’s commentary. It had me laughing at the unrealistic exaggerations of their voices with their previous actions like the sandboarding and souvenir purchases. The cringe pet names were also hilarious.
This week’s episode pushes Sakurai and Uzaki with the romantic atmosphere around them. However, even with the romance around, they stick to just keeping things platonic. The anime really has me in suspense on what’s going to happen next with two, and I just hope that the last three episodes will provide some outlet to this frustration over this relationship.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
