Review: Total Dramarama “Tu Ba Or Not Tu Ba”
Overview
The Total Drama class tries to help Chef Hatchet achieve his dream of joining the world’s most famous tuba band, Tubalicious, only to regret it when they realize how much they’ll miss him…
Our Take
This was quite a random episode. On one hand, it’s great to have dreams and even the support of your friends to help you possibly achieve them, but on the other hand, if you have a circle of people who care about you, what would they do without you around?
This is the question the Total Drama kids begin to ponder as the show progresses. Of course, this obviously had some parodies of movie training montages with Noah taking charge of coaching Chef into perfecting his Tuba Skills, while the kids try to audition for a replacement teacher for Chef as a backup plan. But to be honest I’ve never heard of a mainstream band actually using a Tuba in the mix (unless they were involved with a “Ska-Band” during the 90’s Alternative Rock Era). But this also felt like a cliche episode where the kids realize that the most valued people in their lives are irreplaceable.
Overall, a cliche but passable episode, but nothing too weird outside of some random jokes involving the existence of werewolves in the show’s universe.
