Report: Wonder Woman-Inspired Animated Series “Being Considered”
Wonder Woman: 1984 is scheduled to hit theaters later this year, but that might not be the only Wonder Woman project in development. Director Patty Jenkins is building out an entire universe comprised of sequels, spin-offs, and even an animated series. According to Empire,
Patty Jenkins mentioned that an animated series focused on the Amazons is being considered, as is an Amazon spin-off film that would be “part of the in-world story of Wonder Woman”
Our Take
DC Entertainment has a long tradition of creating excellent Wonder Woman animated films or animated films that have largely featured the Amazonian princess. An animated series would do well, but where would it air or stream? The DC Universe App sounds like it’s on it’s last legs, so the only options for the show’s older-skewing audience (given it’s status of a PG-13 film) would be an HBO MAX or prime-time Cartoon Network time slot.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
