English Dub Review: You Can’t Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! “Relationship Talk? Sharing Half? Festival Vibes? Still Won’t Start a Rom-Com”

Overview:

Eiyu consults Runako about Akari. Akari and Shio admit to each other their feelings for Eiyu.

Our Take:

I’m enjoying this show because this episode makes it look like Akari might have already won Eiyu’s heart. While trying to get some advice from Runako, he frames it as if a friend went through the situation. When asked if his friend would be receptive to this girl having feelings for him, he says yes. This leads me to believe that he does have some feelings for Akari and would be open to a relationship with her. I have a few reasons as to why, after doing some analysis.

The biggest issue for any of the current girls getting into a relationship with Eiyu is the fact that one of the girls has yet to be introduced. There’s a short-haired tan girl in the OP, and she still hasn’t been introduced after seven episodes. We can’t have Eiyu in a relationship if all of the girls haven’t had a chance yet. My other reason is that this is an anime based on an ongoing manga, so unless there’s an arc where he gets with one of the girls and they break up, then I don’t see any progress happening despite how much the next episode seems to be teasing it.
