Hulu Taps Into “The Kids From S.I.P.P.Y.” for New Animated Series Development
Hulu is doubling down on its adult animation slate. According to a recent report from Deadline, the streamer has officially put “The Kids From S.I.P.P.Y.” into development, marking another high-profile addition to its 2026-2027 programming pipeline. This series comes from writer-EPs Branson Reese and Nicole Silverberg and will be produced by 20th Television Animation.
The project signals Hulu’s continued commitment to edgy, high-concept animation, following in the footsteps of hits like Solar Opposites and the Futurama revival.
What is S.I.P.P.Y.?
While plot details are currently being kept under wraps, the title suggests a satirical play on secret organization tropes (think S.H.I.E.L.D. or G.I. Joe), likely centered on a group of kids—or perhaps young adults—operating within a bizarre, possibly corporate or government-funded, operative program.
The “S.I.P.P.Y.” acronym has already sparked fan theories online, with many speculating it stands for something ironically domestic or juvenile contrasted against a high-stakes action backdrop.
A Growing Animation Powerhouse
The development of The Kids From S.I.P.P.Y. comes at a strategic time for Hulu. With Disney’s recent focus on consolidating its streaming assets, Hulu has carved out a specific niche as the home for “Animation with an Edge.”
Key Context: This announcement follows a string of 2026 animation news, including the expansion of the Gintama creator’s Dandelion on Netflix and Prime Video’s Kevin. Hulu’s move suggests a competitive push to secure original IP that can appeal to the Gen Z and Millennial demographic.
If the pilot script moves to a full series order, we could see The Kids From S.I.P.P.Y. hitting screens as early as late 2026 or early 2027.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
