Watch: Hank Azaria Talks Developing “Moe” For “The Simpsons” On “Late Night With Seth Meyers” Plus A New “Steamed Hams” Bit
Moe Szyslak is my favorite ‘sight gag’ character in that usually when the producers are putting together episodes of The Simpsons, they’ll get super dark with the longtime bartender. Some of my personal favorites include Moe climbing into an oven with a sign on his back that said “No Funeral” or some of his other silly suicide attempts.
If you’ve ever wondered how Moe’s voice Hank Azaria had developed the character, he goes into a quick anecdote about the character in this new clip as shown on Late Show with Seth Meyers where he divulges the amount of planning that went into the character (spoiler alert: it was none).
The Steamed Hams bits have definitely cooled off the last 6-10 months or so as compared to 2018 when they were friggin’ everywhere, but that doesn’t mean they are completely extinct. In this instance, additional understanding can be made in that stop-motion animation is a long and arduous process which makes this new bit that much more rewarding. Produced with LEGO adaptations of various characters from The Simpsons, this clip provides a more tangible alternative to the typical fare.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
