FOX Looking At Animated Drama Series From The Creator Of “Criminal Minds”
Broadcast network FOX has long held the title for leading the charge of animation for primetime television. The problem is, even the branding of Animation Domination continues to under serve an industry that is constantly referred to as a “genre” by only featuring original animated comedies. As good as mainstays like The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers and more are, a little variety could go a long way.
Today, Adult Swim has all sorts of animation, whether it’s comedies like Rick and Morty, action series on it’s fabled Toonami block, and even the introduction of more horror-infused franchises like Mr. Pickles and Shivering Truth, they’ve long been the lone television network to try anything new. AMC Networks and now FOX seem to be noticing the success streaming services like Netflix and Amazon are experiencing in investing in additional subgenres other than comedy. The latest example is this new report from Variety that notes FOX looking at producing an animated drama with Jeff Davis and Bento Box producing the series.
Nothing has been ordered yet, but with animation showing the world that it can still move forward on the pure strength of technology, FOX and other networks would be silly not to take advantage.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
