Six Animated Films to Watch While Quarantined
Paprika (Japan)
When it comes to anime, Studio Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki usually gets all the love from western audiences. However, the late animator Satoshi Kon may have actually been beating him at his game this whole time, and most of us never even knew. The two men have a lot in common as both use the unique properties of hand-drawn animation to defy the laws of physics and create vistas we normally see only in our dreams. Here, however, Kon had one advantage over his old rival, and that is that he wouldn’t restrict his films with a PG rating. Going along this train of thought, you may summarize his most revered work, Paprika, about a young woman traveling through people’s psyches in order to retrieve a stolen mind-controlling machine, as a more grown-up version of Spirited Away…with a healthy dose of Inception and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind thrown into the mix.
Paprika is available on Hulu and Amazon Prime. In addition, you may also find one of Kon’s celebrated short films, Ohayo, on YouTube.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
