Gorillaz Launch Part Featurette Part Music Video Series Song Machine
Animated videos are becoming increasingly popular with major label music artists. Last year, Sturgill Simpson teamed up with Netflix with an anime-inspired accompaniment of his newest record Sound & Fury and Kid Cudi is doing the same thing. Now it’s the original animated band themselves stepping in with a new Youtube series entitled Song Machine.
As mentioned, the series has elements of behind-the-scenes featurettes as the band works on music, a music video for the track “Momentary Bliss fr. slowthai & Slaves”, and even cameos from the band’s various animated characters that are typically the stars of previous videos for the UK band, but in this case, are more used in various spots. Check out the first episode below.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
