Review: Mike Tyson Mysteries “The Christmas Episode”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The mystery crew is tasked with bringing George to Oregon so that he can be euthanized, but Marquess shows up dressed up as George’s wife Lillian which now gives the old-timer the will to live. With this mystery now solved, the rest of the crew minus Marquess embarks on another mystery which involves Paul Gillman sleeping with a married woman…who looks like Marquess. George flips out and nearly kills Marquess who retaliates and kills the senior citizen.

Our Take

Ok, maybe not your traditional holiday classic stereotypical episode, but “The Christmas Episode” is by far one of the show’s darkest efforts. The climactic battle between the two senior citizens was the ultimate payoff for the build-up that started with Marquess kicking off his eventual transition of looking not like Matt Bomer. Because of the allotted run time, there wasn’t a bunch of time for Pigeon or Yung Lee to get a bunch of dialogue in, but Iron Mike lays a few haymakers in the form of solid one-liners in retaliation for those questioning his mystery-solving credentials.

With Mike Tyson heading headfirst into the cannabis industry, I’ll be curious if the producers will start to use this as a future premise in which to do new episodes on. We have more episodes of Mike Tyson Mysteries season four on the way, and if this special effort before year’s end is any indication, we should be in for some more hilarity.
