Here Are Six Confirmed (and Four Possible) Guest Stars for Rick and Morty Season Four

Rick and Morty is no rookie when it comes to securing talented guest stars to appear on the show. Since the series first aired in December 2013, a plethora of celebrities has come out to call it their favourite show on television. Show creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have made efforts to connect with anyone who shows interest and get them on the show, if possible. Combined with Harmon’s connections and the rising popularity of the series, this has lead to an incredible list of voices that have joined the Rick and Morty universe.

Through three seasons Rick and Morty have had its fair share of celebrity cameos. There have been beloved celebrities like Danny Trejo, Christina Hendricks, John Oliver, and Steven Colbert. A slew of well-known comedians to add to the already comedic caliber of the series like Key and Peele, Patton Oswalt, Dana Carvey, and Jemaine Clement. Even A-list award-winning names like Susan Sarandon, Alfred Molina, and Werner Herzog have made an unexpected appearance.

So, with season four about to be released, one of the biggest questions has been around the celebrity voices we may hear. It seems like the question has arisen every interview Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland has done over the past few months. The series creators have been surprisingly tactful with releasing information slowly as anticipation for the new season has climbed. They have managed to give enough celebrity names to keep fans and media happy while also maintaining somethings close to the chest.

And now, with the first episode since October 2017 about to air this evening, we have a few definitive answers on the guest stars we can expect to see. There are also some big question marks around some celebrities that have expressed interest in appearing. For the sake of curiosity, we decided to add these names to the list. Even if they don’t make it sometime this season, we should expect to see them soon. So, here are six confirmed guest stars for season four of Rick and Morty, and four names that may potentially come up.

Sam Neill (Confirmed)

The first confirmed guest star for the upcoming season of Rick and Morty came about a year ago. Close after the announcement that the show had been picked up for 70 episodes, pre-production began. In November of last year, Jurassic Park star Sam Neill sent out a tweet thanking the crew of Rick and Morty for his time working with them.

It has since been confirmed that Sam Neill would be appearing in one of the upcoming episodes. As far as what his character will be like is still unknown.  While many fans were hoping he would be reprising a role similar to his Jurassic Park character Alan Grant, some other information has come out. Justin Roiland has said that Neill will be performing alongside another New Zealander to help flesh out specific characteristics of a new alien species.

Rob Paulsen (Potential)

Rob-Paulsen-FTR.jpg

Out of all the fantastic guest stars that have previously appeared on the show, there is one that is the most likely to return. Rob Paulsen had lent his voice to Rick and Morty way back in season one. Taking on the role of Morty’s pet dog turned evil, Snowball (a.k.a. Snuffles) quickly became a fan favourite. Justin Roiland has also expressed his love for the character and stated that he would love to bring him back for more.

Though it has not been confirmed whether or not Snowball will be in season four, it would mean that Paulsen would make his return. The talented voice actor is one of the biggest names when it comes to recording. He has gifted us with the voice behind countless animated characters including Yakko Warner, Pinky, and at least two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Though he may not be as easily recognizable as some of the other names on this list, hist talents can never be ignored.

Kathleen Turner (Confirmed)

Kathleen Turner.jpg

Probably the most surprising confirmed guest star for season four of the series is Kathleen Turner. The Golden Globe Award-winning actress is a legend of Hollywood but doesn’t typically appear in shows with humour as dark as Rick and Morty. However, Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon were quick to name the Romancing the Stone star when asked about upcoming cameos at this year’s San Diego Comicon.

Though she may not be the first name you would expect to voice a character on the show, Turner is no rookie to voice acting. Besides making appearances on shows like Family Guy and King of the Hill, she was also the voice of Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit?. With her unmistakable husky voice, Turner is sure to make a splash when she takes her spot in the Rick and Morty universe.

Chris Evans (Potential)

Chris Evans is one of the biggest names in Hollywood today. After making audiences jump out of their seats during Avengers: Endgame, Evans has been open for some new gigs. Well, a lot of fans are speculating that Captain America himself could be making his own cameo on Rick and Morty sooner rather than later.

The actor has been a vocal fan of the series for some time. Over the last few months, Evans has found it difficult to contain his excitement for season four. Though this means absolutely nothing about actually appearing on the series, again Roiland and Harmon are known for trying to connect with stars who love the show. And, if Captain America wants to be on your show, you better be certain that there is an open invitation. But, with all the hype Evans has been giving the series, it would make sense that he makes some sort of an appearance.

Paul Giamatti (Confirmed)

PaulGiamati.jpg

Paul Giamatti is another name that was confirmed at this year’s San Diego ComiCon events. Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon could only hold back names for so long, and Giamatti is one heck of an addition to the series. One of the busiest actors in the business, it was a surprising name to add to the list of stars coming on the show.

The American Splendor actor also has some experience with doing voice work in adult animation. Much like Kathleen Turner, Giamatti has also appeared in King of the Hill, while he has also played himself on the Netflix hit series, BoJack Horseman. There has been no information about what his role will be in Rick and Morty. However, his voice is instantly recognizable, so keep an ear out.

Kanye West (Potential)

This may sound like the list is getting ridiculous, but there is a good chance Kanye West makes a cameo on Rick and Morty in the near future. The outrageous music star has expressed on multiple occasions that he has a deep fondness for the series. Back in May, Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon were even as bold as to say that they would give West an entire episode dedicated to him.

To add to the speculation, Kanye followed up on his invitation and went to meet Roiland, Harmon, and crew back in August. It is hard to believe that West made that trek without spending some time recording. Unfortunately, it has not been confirmed whether or not he will make a cameo in season four. Which means that we will just have to wait and see. But, Roiland has said that it is sure to happen, just maybe not for the upcoming batch of episodes.

Matthew Broderick (Confirmed)

After most of the dust had settled regarding which stars would be appearing on Rick and Morty season four, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland added a couple of more names to the list. Late during the events of San Diego ComiCon, the creators told IMDb that Matthew Broderick would be trying his chops at a character.

Ferris Bueller himself is another big name star that adds his voice to animation on occasion. He made some waves when he played the Spirit of the Forest in Adventure Time, or for his role in BoJack Horseman. But, his voice may be most recognizable as Simba in the original Lion King film. Broderick is so dynamic that he could play any number of roles in Rick and Morty, it should be interesting when he arrives.

Liam Cunningham (Confirmed)

At the same time as Broderick’s name was thrown out there, Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon added another famous celebrity. Liam Cunningham was just coming off of the massively popular series Game of Thrones when the Rick and Morty creators dropped his name. His addition to season four came as somewhat of a surprise.

Unlike most of the other names on this list, Cunningham has little-to-no voice acting experience. Most known for his role as the Onion Knight, his voice is thick with an accent and a little rough around the edges. There has been no information as to what Cunningham’s role will be when he appears in season four, but I think it is safe to say he may have an Irish accent.

Elon Musk (Potential)

This one may be the most outrageous of potential names to be appearing in Rick and Morty. However, there is plenty of reason to believe that Elon Musk will add his voice to the series. The billionaire has been incredibly vocal about his love for the series, going as far to wear t-shirts, and tweet memes from the show.

While it may seem a little far-fetched for Musk to spend time recording for an animated Adult Swim series, we have reason to believe it’s possible. We released a whole article on how this could have potentially happened, which you can read here. But, the main notes involve Musk being at the studio at the time of recordings and bonding with Justin Roiland while filming a YouTube video. If this one does happen, remember you heard it hear first. If it doesn’t happen, just forget I ever said anything.

Taika Waititi (Confirmed)

Waititi.jpg

Finally, we have the name that fans seem to be the most excited about. Taika Waititi has quickly become a star in Hollywood after directing the hit MCU film Thor: Ragnorak. His role as the slow-witted Korg was one of the standout performances, which he reprised in this year’s Avengers: Endgame. Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon were quick to announce that he would be a part of the upcoming season, which made fans at San Diego ComiCon extremely happy.

Unlike most of the other confirmed cameos, we already have a taste of what Waititi’s role will be in the new season. Fans were given a sneak peek at Glootie, an alien who has a penchant for getting his app idea off the ground. The New Zealander will be joining countryman Sam Neill in filling out this new alien species. And, for even more Glootie, he has already made an appearance in the Rick and Morty comic books, you can read that review here.

Regardless of who makes it on the show, the series already is full of talented comedians and stars. Be sure to watch as season four of Rick and Morty premieres tonight on Adult Swim.
