Rooster Teeth Continues Eventual Transition From Being Streaming Service To Full-Fledged Studio

Rooster Teeth has made a few more changes following a rocky summer that saw a bit of controversy, all in a pretty obvious transition to being less of a streaming service and more of a studio that’s expected to be another feeding tube for parent company’s WarnerMedia properties like Adult Swim and the upcoming HBO MAX. We’re seeing some of this with gen: Lock airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup.

Effective yesterday, longtime RT head-honcho Matt Hullum has been given a new Chief Content Officer title and Rooster Teeth set to be run by Jordan Levin. This follows other recent structural changes which included layoffs and employees complaining about working long hours for not a lot of pay.

On the content side, Rooster Teeth has had a strong year. Although flawed, gen: Lock proved to be another bankable franchise to join the likes of RwBy and Red vs Blue. The company recently acquired Machinima’s content and have deals in place with Netflix and others for additional content.

Make no mistake….this will be the future for Rooster Teeth. It’s only a matter of time until the streaming service goes and all of the content that goes with it being made part of the HBO MAX streaming platform taking VRV along with it.
