English Dub Review: Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon II “Renard”

Overview (Spoilers Below) 

Bell wants to rescue Haruhime from the Ishtar Familia, but the other members of the Hestia Famila warn him that it’s a bad idea. This is because of the influence the Ishtar Familia has not only on the red-light district but the majority or Orario as well. Still, he wants to help the poor girl out and help Mikoto reunite with her childhood friend, so the two of them begin to devise a plot to rescue Haruhime. Meanwhile, Ishtar is plotting against Freya and needs Bell in order to see her plot come to fruition.

Our Take

This episode raises more questions than it answers. Why exactly is Ishtar planning and why does she need Bell? And Hermes, is he simply more than a messenger in this mess? This is all-important because the episode will serve as a segway to the next arc, where we’ll see the Hestia and Ishtar Familias kick each others’ ass. We’re also given a flashback scene illustrating the relationship Mikoto and Haruhime has as children — which makes it all the more heartbreaking that Haruhime dismisses Mikoto as a stranger in their short-lived reunion. All in all, I can’t wait to see what their second meeting will be like in addition to the tricks the Ishtar Familia is willing to use to keep the Hestia Familia out of their way.
