Review: Squidbillies “The Reenactment of the Repulsion of the Siege of Cuyler Mountain” ; “Rich Dan, Poor Dan”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“The Reenactment of the Repulsion of the Siege of Cuyler Mountain”

The Siege of Cuyler Mountain is reportedly a Civil War battle that took place that saw one of Early’s relatives defend the very mountain the Cuylers live on with nothing but a cannonball. To verify this, Sheriff introduces Early to his podcast co-host Ollie who also runs an antique appraisal business. This guy knows everything about local history and agrees to reenact the scene after purchasing the cannonball from Early for a cool $50. Unfortunately, the performance doesn’t go as planned and Ollie ends up getting killed in the process.

“Rich Dan, Poor Dan”

Wow! That Jason D. Williams intro was excellent! Furthermore, this week’s episode sees Dan’s business and belongings repossessed by the bank after going broke and it takes a special kind of Early to remind Dan that the one-time business mogul needs to see the finer things in life. In Dan’s case, that’s leasing out all of Early’s land for solar panels.

Our Take

This week had two fantastic episodes, one right after the other, and the schedule was just right. I loved the fact that we had a Squids-focused episode and a Dan-focused one as it helped spice things up, the latter of whom is becoming increasingly important. Squidbillies continues to up the ante each episode with even more insane crazy shit you’d never see anywhere else. Case and point…Early going nuts in a monster truck with a live griffin in the bed. Or when the first episode featured all of the cannonball slamming your little heart could possibly muster. Throw in some killer musical intros to boot, and you’re gonna have yourselves a swell evening.
