English Dub Review: Dragon Ball Super “The Perfect Survival Tactic! Universe 3’s Menacing Assassin!!”
-Insert “Voltron” joke here-
Following the full-on removal of Universe 4, the remaining fighters from Universe 3 which mostly consists of robot-like humanoid characters, take the offensive against Universe 7. While one of them is defeated at random by Android 17 & 18’s combined efforts in a well-paced fight scene, another group of bizarre robot characters from Universe 3 lead by an individual named “Dr.Paparoni” sends out 3 other robots with almost unpronounceable names, to attack our three Saiyan leads Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta.
In a valiant effort to help the two save their energy to for the oncoming battle against Universe 11, Gohan decides to take on the three robots alone. At first, he gains the upper hand, at least until that same weirdly named Doctor has them combine together Voltron-style into a much stronger robot called “Koichiarator” whom easily overpowers Gohan until Goku and Vegeta step in.
As the two distract the enemy, Gohan delivers a proper ass-kicking to this robot combination, but being the poor loser that he is, the Doctor refuses to surrender and the episode ends with a foreboding cliffhanger when that same Doctor declares that he will unleash his secret weapon/trump card against Universe 7 in retaliation.
Our Take
While this wasn’t the best episode, the fight scenes were at least well-paced. And Gohan is now given his moment to shine and stand his ground which shows how far he’s progressed compared to the beginning of DB Super. It’s clear that the “Resurrection F” Saga was a wake-up call to get back into the swing of Martial Arts and despite going back to his roots to the Gohan we remember, he’s now more determined than ever as a married family man.
While the show is taking it’s time to build up the oncoming battle against Universe 11 along with their overpowered champion Jiren, I’m still wondering when Frieza is actually going to do something since he’s still part of the team, but I guess we’ll have to find out what happens in the next episode.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
