Review: We Bare Bears “Charlie’s Halloween Thing 2”

RIP tall dude who loved to talk.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

A meteorite crashes on Earth carrying a goop that when transmitted can turn everything except for Pan-Pan (who is immune) into zombies. The alien responsible for this misunderstanding shows up to Earth with the antidote to fix everything but Tabes beats the shit out of him just before she turns into a zombie and now Pan-Pan is doing his best to entertain his new zombie family.

The kid bears crash at a haunted house for the evening which is better than being homeless any day of the week. Turns out all of the monsters living in this house aren’t scary, they are just roommates who all want to adopt and raise the bears.

The bears try to watch a movie with Chloe but it’s from one of those illegal streaming websites that are loaded with viruses. One of those viruses ends up being a troll that chases the bears all over the cave and turns their once humble abode into a tech nightmare. Pan-Pan is able to find an anti-virus program, but after installing, that just makes things worse. Fortunately, Chloe is able to find the virus’ weakness and exploit said weakness for an eventual delete. The lesson here? Just buy the fucking movies.

Charlie finds a wishing machine called “Zohar” that grants the sasquatch his wish of just being a normal dude. Problem is, his friends don’t recognize him and as such Charlie makes a new wish that turns everyone into bigfoots which is another mess. A few more screwed up wishes later, Charlie’s final wish to Zohar is to turn everything back to the way it was…or did they?

Our Take

We Bare Bears scares up a silly collection of Bear stories that are simple enough for the youngin’s but silly and strange enough for the older crowds. Alex Hirsch makes a guest appearance as an internet troll in what was by far the most ambitious and outlandish thing this franchise has ever done. While the other three stories were probably derivative of what you’d expect from We Bare Bears, the internet short was out of control and well executed.
