This Week In Viral: “The Simpsons” ; Adult Swim

Mmmmm…cake.

 

Despite the fact that anyone who had The Simpsons: The Complete Third Season on DVD had already known this, the internet was in an uproar late last week when they discovered that it was, in fact, Michael Jackson that voiced the character of Paterson New Jersey’s  “Leon Kompowsky”. That said, Michael did not voice the singing portions of the “Stark Raving Dad” episode, those duties went to Kipp Lennon, but Michael did voice himself despite all these years the character being listed as “John Jay Smith”.

For those that don’t remember, the Mike Reiss-Al Jean written episode was directed by Rich Moore (Incredibles, Zootopia), the episode revolved around Bart trying to come up with a good present for Lisa’s birthday. The premise of the episode was actually one of several ideas pitched by Michael to the producers of The Simpsons that would eventually become iconic for the show. Fun fact: a sequel episode was supposed to be done with Prince as a guest star, but never came to fruition as a result of some sort of mix-up going down between script exchanges and whatnot.

 

 

Adult Swim has released a line of ice cream cakes along with Carvel ice cream shaped to look like various Adult Swim characters, more specifically The Venture Bros. which has an ongoing season in progress as we speak. The cakes were announced with a throwback looking trailer which showcased a slew of cake characters and even the phone number to call in which to place your order. Hurry, though! The promotion is limited and lasts through September 12th.
