Review: We Bare Bears “Best Bears”

Is this episode worth staying for the nuptials?

The Bears must complete their best-man duties on the day of Darrell’s wedding with his bride-to-be, Sofia who seems friendly to the Bears, but due to some bad scheduling , and lacking specific yet essential stuff needed for the wedding, it becomes a race against time as Darrell and three bears are all sent out on 3 separate adventures to get this stuff and get to the wedding under 30 mins.

Our Take

This was a fun & decent episode as we’re seeing the substantial progression of the recurring supporting character Darrell that’s been part of the Bears lives for quite sometime about to reach a new chapter in his life despite running a smalltime mousepad selling business.

The pacing and sense of urgency hit their mark when needed, and the obstacles all three bears encounter while played for laughs, all had an essential role to help Darrell in the most important moment in his life while sprinkled with the right amount of situational comedy during the proceedings.

Although the opening played with my expectations into thinking Panda was getting married, many of the jokes felt grounded in reality in places which I think helped the jokes work, especially when a comedically surreal moment happens near the end that turns out to be subtle foreshadowing, but it kinda works itself out in a lighthearted way.

Overall, “Best Bears” while briskly paced, excels as a fun episode with the perfect balance of humor & heart as the Bears while not perfect themselves, go the extra mile and uphold being perfect in terms of “Best-Man” status.
