English Dub Review: Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These “The Verge of Death (Part 1)”
Stock up on kevlar.
Overview (Spoilers Below)
This week’s episode of Legend of the Galactic Heroes sees the Free Planets Alliance ultimately retreating from invading the Empire due to lack of resources which is affecting both them and occupied territories. Yang feels that this is part of Reinhold’s trap, which it is, because we also get to see Reinhold’s reaction to the FPA’s invasion which appears to be the beginning of the end of the war.
Our Take
I really hope Funimation dubs the eventual occupation of the Galactic Empire, but we’ll see. In the meantime, this week’s episode was legit in it’s display of the true perils of war from a social perspective, a stark warning of our current political climate. Military strategist buffs will see way more detail in a plot that was largely chess piece moves that will soon prove to be futile in it’s execution, but still revel in the ebb and flow of one side’s actions and the other side’s reactions. Those looking for any crazy action sequences will be a bit let down, however, I would have been just as fine with more shots of the populace uprising against the FPA’s occupation and the additional ramifications that would have come to pass.
We haven’t yet seen a LOT of Yang and Reinhold’s strategies having a direct effect on the other, but this episode appears to be the start of that. Hopefully,we’ll get to see enough of this franchise where we can see a lot of these concepts flourish and the continuing damage ripple effects that happen as a result.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
