English Dub Review: Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202 “Departure to the Unknown!”
Where is this show going?
Overview (Spoilers Below)
This week’s episode of Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202 sees an elongated affair concerning Kodai and the old-school Yamato crew commandeering the ship and taking off with the UN hot on the tails of the unauthorized departure. A few crew members stay behind, but the Yamato takes off successfully for its destination.
Our Take
So far, not so good for Star Blazers. The series is really just a weekly nostalgia reminder of the show’s past series but without all of the killer action sequences that the prior series had. It’s a problem that most sequel series/movies have quite frankly, just rehash the old instead of coming up with something else new entirely. In this case, the political fallout of a once impressive adventure is quite a step down from the marvelous space wars of 2199.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
