Review: Gary And His Demons “Still The One”

Posted on by

This demon baby should be aborted.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Meet Gary. A longtime demon hunter looking to retire but he can’t because the organization he works for hasn’t found a suitable replacement. Alas, the duty is on Gary to both look for a replacement and to continue taking on the demons that terrorize the city.

Our Take

The Mark Little created series falls short in pretty much every conceivable category. The dialogue is lukewarm and is delivered just plain awful voice acting with Little sounding more like Dr. Doofenschmirtz from Phineas and Ferb than any decent bounty hunter. The animation production is rough at the beginning of the episode as well, except it gets a bit better near the end. Choppiness and technical glitches are all over the place which is sad because I actually enjoyed the plot and story of the series thus far.

So far, this thing is a mess. Clearly, this show needed about another six months in post-production, and probably a better writer’s room for dialogue to help iron out the hack-ness. So far, Corner Gas Animated is by far the better of the two Canadian-produced series, and Gary and His Demons proves to be the least polished series streamed for VRV/Mondo thus far.

6/10
