“Lil Kev” From Kevin Hart Gets Pilot Presentation For FOX
This is what happens when Jumanji goes number one.
We told you guys last year about an animated series that Kevin Hart was working on for FOX in conjunction with Lionsgate, and now Deadline is reporting that THAT series is called Lil Kev and it has been ordered for a pilot presentation. Kevin Hart is slated to voice himself in the series along with Wanda Sykes, Keith Robertson, Gerald “Slink” Johnson and Deon Cole. Michael Price (F is for Family/The Simpsons) and Matt Claybrooks are writing the series.
Written by Price and Claybrooks, Lil Kev is the story of a 12-year-old, pint-sized, optimistic, highly imaginative kid who navigate growing up in the crime-filled inner-city of North Philly with the help and sometimes hindrance of his strong, quick-tempered mother, drug-addicted father, pessimistic older brother, ex-con uncle and wise-ass talking dog.
Evidently, according to Deadline, Michael Thorn really wants to greenlight a new animated series and that the Amy Poehler presentation from last year is still in contention.
Our Take
Again, this could be a killer series if picked up and marketed correctly, but after flops with Son of Zorn, Murder Police, and Bordertown, FOX Animation needs a new hit to prove they can still hang with the Netflixes of the world.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
