Comic Book Cartoon News: Harley Quinn ; Constantine ; Deadpool

Slight updates for a number of upcoming series.

A lot of fuss was made last week about ThatHashTagShow getting the exclusive on revealing the exclusive cast of characters for the Harley Quinn animated series coming to the new DC Digital service despite the fact that the first still shot released pretty much had all of them and really is only needed for people who have no idea who the Joker is, or Poison Ivy, or Clayface. In any event, you can see a full list of character descriptions here.

The series sees Harley along with a host of other selections from Gotham’s rogue gallery (Poison Ivy has been confirmed) be featured in a series that will see the “Queenpin” of crime try and take over a post-Joker Gotham City.

Deadpool animated series producer Donald Glover recently spoke to Popculture.com about the upcoming series set to premiere possibly sometime later this year. During the interview, Donald gave us a bit of what we can expect from the series which shouldn’t really surprise anyone:

“That it’s funny,” he said. “That one it just seems really easy. There’s not as much to hold sacred, in a weird way. I know people love Deadpool and I know people are big comic book geeks, but it’s not the same as Lando or Atlanta, where you have a whole city on your back. Deadpool is very aware of himself, so, I don’t have to live up to anything. So it’s been actually, quite easy.”

Deadpool is currently in production as we speak and is slated for an FXX premiere.

The CW Seed animated series adaptation of Constantine is “almost done” says the show’s star Matt Ryan. Matt recently spoke with Comicbook.com where he detailed that he should be done doing the voiceover for the series in a few weeks which hopefully means that a 2018 premiere is coming sooner rather than later.

“Armed with an arcane knowledge of the dark arts and a wicked wit, he fights the good fight with his soul already damned to hell, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine uses his skills to face the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.”
