Funny or Die is Or Dying
Uhhhh ohhh…..
Funny or Die is home to a decent indie animation community. Not quite the spot as what Newgrounds or Vimeo boasts, but still formidable. But, if this new report from Deadline is any indication, the streaming company founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay might be on its last legs. Deadline got its hands on a memo that mentions a round of layoffs that quickly mirrored those that came in 2016 when the company cut their employee staff to 100.
Our Take
In terms of original animation, Funny or Die hasn’t been known as a production company tailored towards that particular genre and moving forward, it sounds like the company is going to go the way of Jash. The producers are blaming market conditions that are seeing the likes of Buzzfeed, Mashable, and possibly Vice News all die or possibly be seen as targets of mergers or acquisitions, but for my money…it’s content.

Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
