Review: Tangled: The Series “One Angry Princess”

You know what this show is missing? Songs. The theme song to Tangled: The Series was an original new to the TV movie and just reminds me that the show is really lacking in music (and, often, overall charm).

Rapunzel cuts the ribbon at the grand opening of Atilla the Bun bakery. Unfortunately, Atilla is just extremely intimidating and can’t stop scaring off business. The crew sets off to solve “the whole ‘Atilla is terrifying thing’”, as Eugene calls it.

Atilla also seemed to be misguided in his business plan by opening his shop directly across from Monty’s Sweet Shoppe. He shows his frustration by crushing a cupcake in his hand. Mysteriously, the next day, Monty’s Sweet Shoppe is absolutely trashed. Atilla swears it wasn’t him as he’s dragged off to the dungeon.

Rapunzel defends Atilla in court by proclaiming “Atilla didn’t do it”. It doesn’t work, but she buys some more time to prove his innocence. Now would be a great time for a song.

Instead, the show drags on as the crew scours the kingdom for evidence. Remember, when this show first started, there were plot points instead of repeated series of stunts.

As the prisoner ship is leaving with Atilla on it, Rapunzel pulls it back to shore using her hair. That’s actually pretty cool. Then she uses her forensics knowledge to prove that the town sleepyhead (read: drunk) and his goat trashed the Sweet Shoppe in a hilarious mishap.

I feel like maybe I’m harsh on Tangled, but what did we learn here? To not judge the scary gang members by their looks. We’ve learned this quite a few times before. Also that if you are a drunk with a misbehaving goat you will not be punished for your actions.
