Review: Red vs Blue “Red vs Red”

One surprise after another.

Spoilers Below:

The team approaches the island, but are spotted. Two missiles are fired, but they manage to avoid it just in time. The next volley sends about ten their way, and they crash on the edge of the island. They decide to bring the fight to the enemy and not the power facility is all the way at the top. Between them and the facility is a well-fortified plateau. Carolina asks Grif how many edibles he has on him. Powered by shrooms, Grif knocks all of the mob enemies down, and Sarge steals a Warthog. They manage to clear the plateau.

Andrews gets a call from the doctor, who is currently in a panic. Further tests show that Temple’s device is actually a time machine, and completely functional. He’s not sure how it works, but it does. It opens a wormhole into the past and uses power from the past to charge the drill. It will set off a chain of natural disasters, but worse, it will rip open a black hole that will consume the whole planet. She realizes that Temple probably doesn’t even know about it because he’s so focused on vengeance.

The mountain shoots up a blast of light, and they realize that the machine has been turned on.

Overview:

Temple’s machine is absurd. Somehow it manages to absorb general energy from the past to use in the future. Why they couldn’t just use the generator that they stole from the planet is beyond me, but this is far more dramatic. Either way, the machine will lead to a catastrophe, and likely destroy the planet– maybe even surrounding planets. At the end of the episode, the machine is activated, so there’s not much time.

Largely an action episode. Well, they tried really hard to make the mob characters unlikeable. A little too hard, but it’s supposed to be ridiculous. Tucker somehow manages to destroy a tank by punching the radiator really hard. That was equally ridiculous, but a lot funnier.
