English Dub Review: NEW GAME! “Of all the embarrassing things to be caught doing…”
The name of the series pretty much signifies an important arc.

The debut episode of New Game! season two sees Aoba celebrating one full year at Eagle Jump and really it’s another ordinary day at the office. Nene is no longer at the company, and they’re not hiring anyway, but the hyper college student is trying to produce her own game and even asks Umiko for some code help. The crew is eagerly anticipating their new project but first, go through a litany of management reviews to gauge where some of the underlings want to end up. Afterward, the company is treated to a night time picnic where it is announced that a new contest is underway for who can develop the best character designs.
Our Take
Setup. That’s all this premiere episode was. The introduction of a bunch of arcs that I’m sure we’re gonna tackle this upcoming season on New Game! Those looking for anything revolutionary just yet may be disappointed, but long time fans of the series will be happy to see old faces though, I’m with Aoba, I was kinda hoping to see some new faces. In any case, the show is off to a solid start with some very interesting ideas. I’ll be curious to see what kind of “spice” the series introduces.
