Shorts Review: RWBY Chibi Episode 20

This episode was 4 mins and 35 seconds long with zero promotional ads.

“Double Trouble”

Blake simply stands there like a statue while random characters such as Ruby and Jaune interact with her and she shows zero emotion or any kind of movement at all.

The interaction that stood out for me the most was Weiss approaching Blake and blindly assuming she’s standing there because she knows about a dark secret that Weiss is supposedly hiding, but we the audience don’t know what that specific secret is. Feeling blackmailed, she wants to Bribe with her with a “Lifetime supply of Tuna” to keep her mouth shut.

The Twist of this, of course, is that It wasn’t Blake but one of her “Shadow Clones” standing there without a command the whole time which is why it didn’t interact with anyone and Blake shrugs it off not knowing what has transpired.

But it all culminates to a Punchline where all Three characters who interacted with Blakes “Shadow-Clone” all give her praise and Weiss gives her a large box of Tuna to keep whatever secret Weiss supposedly thinks Blake knows to herself and Blake just stands bewildered not knowing wtf just happened and the skit ends.

I chuckled a bit at this one but I’m still wondering what kind of Secret Weiss had that was worth bribing to feel blackmailed?

“Zwei vs Beowulf”

We see Zweii Barking at a Grimm Beowulf only for the camera to zoom out revealing that the Beowulf isn’t very big and is on a leash belonging to Cinder and they both apologize for their pets interacting in a bad way and they both proceed to pull them away from each other and the skit ends.

While it’s funny in a relatable scenario, You wished there was more meat to it than one joke but It is a bit comical at the idea of a villain having a terrifying Grimm as a pet. It’d be like if she had a pet Xenomorph. 😛

“Roman’s Revenge”

For the first time on RWBY Chibi, The classic villain Roman Torchwick and his silent Partner in Crime “Neopolitan” (AKA Neo) are now added to the cartoonish world of Chibi with Neo holding worded signs like she’s “Wile e coyote” as her way of communicating to her boss.

Team RWBY begins to gleefully play around in a field while we see Roman from a hiding distance proclaiming that he’s “back in town” and even breaks the 4th wall complaining that he was left behind while everyone else is in a “Spin-off Comedy series”.

He makes his declaration of Revenge saying “things are gonna be different” while Neo casually also breaks the 4th wall while holding a sign claiming otherwise. 😛

Roman asks Neo to fetch him the “Death Ray” and his Jaw-Drops at how disproportionately large it is and how it came out of Neo’s pocket and Roman orders him to load it up with “Highly Explosive Dust Crystals.” and Ruby is calling for her dog that’s playing Fetch.

Out of sheer hilariously dumb luck, Zweii mistakes Roman’s cane for the fetching stick and Roman proceeds to keep it away from Zweii in a small game of “tug of war” and falls on his back and Neo holds up a sign with the words “Play Dead” and Zweii by accident, sets off the gun in his cane blowing them both up Team-Rocket style. (Looks like Team Torchwick is blasting off again!)

Team RWBY finds Zweii with Torchwick’s Cane stupidly thinking it’s the fetching stick and after they leave Roman falls face-first on the ground while Neo lands slowly on the ground with her umbrella Mary Poppins style. Roman asks how he looks after surviving such a large explosion and Neo responds holding one sign while landing safely and the skit ends.

Holy Fuck! I loved this skit. It succeeded in what it strived for in comedy while paying tribute to the classics.

Okay, if they do something with Adam, I will just collapse in laughter. 😛

Neo and Roman make the perfect chibi fourth-wall breakers. You can just see Blake trying to fit the pieces together after they blast off. I also half-expected Neo to make her first real line of dialogue. Wile E. signs work too.
