Review: Steven Universe “Alone at Sea”
Grab a paddle, and review up last night’s Steven Universe!
Spoilers Below
In order to make her feel better, Steven and Greg rent a boat to take Lapis for an oceanic day trip. Sadly, Lapis isn’t too into the whole “spend the day on the water” thing. All she can think of is her time at the bottom of the ocean fused with Jasper. As a matter of fact, Lapis admits to Steven that she kinda misses it.
When Greg tries to teach her how to fish properly, something huge grabs the hook and breaks the fishing rod. After the boat’s engine malfunctions, Jasper climbs on board. It turns out that Jasper has been following Lapis the entire time. Jasper tries to convince Lapis to fuse with her again. But when Jasper hurts Steven, Lapis realizes that she doesn’t need to fuse with Jasper. That she isn’t a monster. Lapis creates a giant water fist and punches through the boat to send Jasper flying into the horizon.
Now that the boat is sinking, Lapis flies Steven and Greg back to shore.
Lapis is one of my favorite Steven Universe characters. I love that she’s flawed and that she is working to become a better being. When we first met Lapis, she pushed everyone away. She doesn’t do that anymore. In this episode, when Greg is fishing, she tries to use her powers to help him. When Greg kindly tells her that he’d prefer to fish the old fashioned way, she doesn’t get upset and run away. She asks him how to fish the old fashioned way and actually takes part in the lesson. This is a huge personal growth for Lapis. And now that she has acted against Jasper, maybe she’ll try to join Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl in battle.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
