Review: Wander Over Yonder “The Hot Shot; The Night Out”

The Hot Shot

There’s a new hero in town and he’s doing to Dominator’s bots what no one else could…destroy them! Sylvia’s not crazy about the dude because usually she’s the muscle, but this guy is taking all of the credit. After doing an investigation, Sylvia learns that the hot shot is full of shit. Wander learns of the hot shot’s identity that being Brad Starlight. Brad’s been making his cousin dress up as a make-shift bot and just as this kid’s about to destroy Wander and Sylvia, a REAL Dombot shows up and causes terror. Starlight shows up and gets stomped on by the real Dombot, but it’s Sylvia that shows up and makes the save.  Starlight gets the girl, just not the one he was expecting.

Our Take

I can’t even remember an evening where I watched Wander Over Yonder and there was NO sign of Lord Hater. In any case, tonight’s episode was awesome! Brad Starlight’s a hilarious character, and you had to love the ruse that he pulled on everyone. I enjoyed the beat down that Sylvia put on the Dombots showcasing fight skills we just haven’t seen in a while.

The Night Out”

Dominator decides to take the night off and heads into town. She heads into a karaoke bar in a disguise and notices Sylvia to whom she quickly bonds with due to their love of fighting and running amok all over town. Eventually, Dominator’s ego manifests and it causes a rift between the two leading to Dominator going back to her ship and Sylvia learning who her REAL friends are.

Our Take 

Another solid episode if not weighed down a bit by all of the montages. That said, we’ve never had an episode where Dominator is really the focal point, and as such I really enjoyed it. June looks to really heat up with some Wander Over Yonder, so let’s see what happens!
