Review: Bordertown – Heart Attack (S1Ep9)

Spoilers Below
Training for her beauty pageant, Gert is encouraged by Bud to focus on a diet consisting of mainly sugar. Karate chopping an apple away, she downed an entire table worth of cupcakes and junk food. While competing on stage, she sang her own rendition of a Britney Spears-ish song. It was during this time that her poor eating habits took control and caused her to suffer a heart attack. She was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital where she was woken by the smell of bacon. Once she realized it was turkey bacon, she instantly went back to her comatose state. Most of us can relate, Gert. With less-than-credible insurance, Bud was forced to take Gert to Mexico to get heart surgery.
During this time, Pepito was given medicine to tame his ADHD. Ernesto and Maria felt it was necessary for his wild antics. They were able to encourage him to take the medicine by asking if he wanted to be like a teenager and take drugs. He quickly grasped the pills and swallowed them. After seeing Pepito slowly fade in and out of his normal self, they decided to let him be himself and took him off of the drugs.
Our Take
Bordertown is becoming a more comprehensive show, altogether. Characters are starting to develop their own personalities and sticking to them through to the next week. The jokes are more well-balanced and not getting pushed upon the viewer. They are just there. It allows the viewer to think while laughing.
SCORE
You’re movin’ on up, Bordertown. I’m starting to enjoy this formula you’ve got going.
If you or anyone you know suffers from using the word “YOLO” in any context, find a new word. If you need to find me, I’ll be trying to find a new word while perusing Twitter @Capo_Sandwich. YOLOception.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
