BUBBLE CAN Review: Knuckleheads “Operation Raoul”

Knuckleheads continues on into it’s first season. This show had a very strong first few weeks when it first started, cementing it as my favorite show on Adult Swim Canada. That may have been a premature analysis because it wasn’t long until a few stinkers came down the pipeline. Was last night’s episode one of them? Or did Knuckleheads prove once again that it can be one of the funniest shows on Adult Swim Canada? Read on to find out!

In “Operation Raoul” Raoul picks up a secret service agent and ends up possessing a microfilm that many international crime organizations want.

This was a pretty strong episode for Knuckleheads, but there were certainly some hiccups along the way, so let’s just get those out of the way first. The episode was very repetitive. It went through the exact same motions about three times, just swapping out which crime organization was going through those particular motions. Raoul is also one of my least favorite characters on the show, so usually any episode revolving around him isn’t my cup of tea. This week however I thought he was pretty strong. There are still a few mannerisms about his character that I don’t enjoy, but I thought he was pretty funny as well this week.

Those are really the only negatives about the episode. The rest of it was well thought out and funny to watch. There are a lot of fun characters introduced in this episode and the situations are over the top and fun to watch.

Overall, this episode sits somewhere in the middle for me. There was a lot to enjoy, there is certainly a lot holding it back from it’s true potential. If they made the episode a little more unique as it progressed, I think I would have landed on a higher score but unfortunately the things I don’t usually like about Knuckleheads were very prevalent this time around. Still, if you’ve enjoyed the show up until this point there is no reason why you won’t like this one.
